I'm Michael Demidenko, a self-taught photographer. I have worked up in stages; coming from the old school reel cameras, to the point and shoot, and now the full-frame Canon DSLR Family. I am a photographer on a part-time basis. I am a full-time doctoral student at the University of Michigan's Developmental Psychology program, and a part-time research associated.

Imaging and Photography kind of clicked for me. Nature and the outdoors have always excited me. Once I got my hands on my fist camera, I read the entire manual so that I could be the "go to" person. Luckily for me... that move worked! I became proficient in the equipment and further deepened my passion for photography.

For me, photography is somewhat of a meditative practice - it puts me at ease and connects me with my surroundings. It allows me to think and re-think aspects of the day-to-day to see how they may fit a schematic that I'm on the hunt for. A lot of what I am doing in photography, I believe wraps into my career goals. One day I hope to use cognitive imaging to develop new therapeutic models. I see both techniques display similar characteristics, just at different complexities. Merging these backgrounds offers a design thinking platform.

I am a part-time photographer. I offer prints (metal/frame/acrylic/canvas prints/digital), outdoor photo shoots, portraits, product, business and event photography + videography in a limited capacity. As I work on my career, I would like to use my photography services to give back to non-profit organizations and supplement my income during my graduate program.

Most importantly, I would like to inspire people to get out and enjoy the outdoors. The world is beautiful, and by getting out we can realize its real beauty. Once this beauty is realized, I believe we will be further inspired to protect and respect it. Further, the nature has many therapeutic benefits that has been highlighted in research.

What I'm Working With

In the last few years I have been fortunate enough to make some equipment upgrades.
I have replaced old lenses with more quick and efficient glass. I have upgraded my camera body to improve speed, quality and versatility.
At this time I'm working with a Canon 6D DSLR, Canon 24-105mm f/4L, Canon 17-40mm f/4L, Rokinon 14mm f/2.8, Sigma 35mm f/1.4, GoPro Hero5 and DJI Phantom 4 drone.

I process my work on my iMac 4K desktop - it allows me to efficiently edit images and introduce enough processing power to expand on videography. In order to accomplish various tasks, I have invested in up-to-date editing software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Photomatix Pro and Starry Stacker.
